Eilean Donan Castle - originally built during King of Scots reign of Alexander II (ruled 1214 to 1249), destroyed 1719, rebuilt between 1919 and 1932 with a WWI war memorial, opened to the public in 1955 and managed by the Conchra Charitable Trust - now a popular tourist attraction and recognized as a Scottish icon - island in Loch Duich, near the village of Dornie, western Highlands of Scotland
